As a RUP founding class member (2008), Joanna Martinez graduated from UC Berkeley in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and obtained her Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of San Francisco in 2017. She began her Doctoral studies in Educational Leadership in June 2020 at Cal State East Bay's School of Education.. Working in the non-profit and education sectors since 2013, Joanna designs programs for formerly incarcerated, homeless, and HIV positive youth and adults in the Bay Area. She is currently Director of a national organization called LeadersUp, where she leads the design of career development services for young adults and connects thousands to a portfolio of corporate employers each year. Joanna grew up in the Roseland School District and says that those experiences have nurtured her desire for continued learning and social justice. With the support from donors to the Roseland Scholarship Fund, Joanna is making us all so proud with her pursuit of education and uplifting communities!
Viridiana Delgadillo
UC Irvine, 2017. BA Psychology
RUP 2013 alumni Viridiana Delgadillo graduated from UC Irvine in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She returned to the Roseland Community in the fall of 2017 and worked as an Instructional Assistant in a bilingual special education preschool classroom, while taking on-line classes in preparation for graduate school. This fall, she enrolled in the SFSU Communicative Disorders Masters Program. Her career goal is to become a bilingual Speech Pathologist and work in a community just like Roseland. We are so proud of her! As a graduate, she received support from the Roseland Scholarship Fund to pursue her educational dreams.
